Which is about now… so in compliance, I am typing this on a desktop.
Joke apart, the latest Decree From The Monopolist: hybrid netbooks (both SSD and harddisk) are banned from sale with Windows XP Home edition.
No kidding. Nothing new, of course, just another attempt in a series of blows by Microsoft to try and cripple the ever-growing Netbook market:
- First there was the 3-app only limitation in Windows 7, which the company has backed away due to public revolt
- Then banning the screen size likely to become the most popular choice
- Now hybrid storage (which happens to be a damned good way of speeding up yours system while reducing battery drain)
What’s next? Will this unprecedented arrogance ever stop?
One possible casualty is the MSI U-115 which had been on the shelves before the Microsoft decision, and as of now it’s still for sale – will be interesting to watch if the company surrenders.
